A blog about living with Dissociative Identity Disorder

DID Dreaming

I had a dream, and I think in that dream I met my personas, and it all took place in this little campy gay Market called Gay Mart in Palm Springs California.

There were eight different people in the dream that I was all interacting with and two people that I really couldn't see and the feeling that I got from each one of them was like I knew them.

We were all talking about just different things that were kind of relevant in one of them had a different personality, but it felt like my Altars.

Have any of you ever had dreams where you think you've interacted with your Alters or met them?

Anger explosion

So I completely blew up yesterday and went from 0 - 100 in a manner of minutes. I was trying to appease everyone and just do some crafting like we typically enjoy doing, and all the Alters got pissy and the angry one fronted and threw all of the crafting stuff into a box and put it into the middle bedroom. So now when I try to do any crafting it's like I've completely forgotten how to. And as a system wide punishment we went into hibernation mode and ended up sleeping almost 12hrs.

I've got no clue wtf that was about.

Reddit Responses:

DID Vocal Stemming

So I belong to a DID Reddit group and some of my posts on this blog will be from that group including some of the responses without the usernames attached for their safety.

DID vocal stemming

Hello just trying to figure out if the vocal stemming is actually one of the Alters talking or if it's ADHD or some Venn Diagram thereof?

So there's times when out of nowhere the System will start talking and it's either in a different accent or it'll just be singing without any music on. They're had also been mentions of random noises coming out without any cognition. Like a random a quack, or that "farting" noise you do with your lips, etc.

Right now one of the Alters is speaking with an African American southern accent. It's not sure where that is coming from?

So any of you do this?

Responses:

Using I instead of We

I've noticed that many people who talk about their experiences living with DID that many refer to themselves as "we" vs "I". For myself, it is still to weird and difficult to use "we" in place of "I", like the British Monarchs used to use. They would say things like "We are not amused" and quite often speak of themselves in plural.

As I am still learning about my System, and how each part of it connects to another, I still find it weird and sometimes off putting, especially when I am discussing it with others.
I do have to say that most of the people, especially my mom, take it very well and do not look at me like I have three heads and sixteen eyes. And of course there are those that have questions, that I try to answer with my limited vocabulary and very rudimentary understanding of my own condition.

While talking on the phone with my mother, I was explaining some of the Alters and how they present themselves, and how each one has its own comorbidity, and things that they like or dislike. One of the Alter's (Johnathan Meyers) is very attentive and dutiful and has an almost "Butler-esq" sense to him.  And that stationary is almost like pornography that he gets very excited at the idea of buying new pens, paper, office supplies, and other items.

Question about Alters and living with them

So my whole life apparently I've had Alters and it wasn't until just recently that I was diagnosed with DID and now I'm acutely aware of the different fragments of myself and the other day while doing some Shadow work the others yelled at me when I tried to access my child side like got violently angry with me and the protector came out and said that he wasn't allowed to come to the front.

But I was in the process of getting things that like reminded me of my childhood and I was really excited in the fact that it was making me happy on a level that I didn't quite understand

Introduction

Hello world,

This blog is going to serve as my way of learning about being diagnosed with #DID or Dissociative Identity Disorder at the age of 44yrs old.

There are terms you'll need to familiarize yourself with, as they'll help you along the way should you not already be familiar with DID.

Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) comes with a unique set of terms that help describe the experiences of those who have it. Here are some key ones:

- **Alter**: A distinct identity or personality state within a person with DID. Alters can have different ages, genders, abilities, and even physiological responses.

What a feeling

Feeling really out of touch with my Main Self right now, and like the others are all fighting for the diver's seat, while the little(s) ...
