Alter protecting systems support group

So recently I've noticed that The Protector not only protects the system, but those close and valued by the system. I'm newly diagnosed with DID and come to realize that Im not the one whose protective of my loved ones it's one of the altars. While "Main Me" maintains friendships for the most part, it's the Protector who stands up for friends and loved ones. Today a friend was called out by a group of Karen's who only were talking about a situation that they themselves "knew" only a bit of the actual situation and most of it was gossip and misconstrued from what actually happened. One of those "really, please tell me more about me" type of things. And The Protector co-fronted and was getting pissed and putting ourselves between them and our friend and wanted to say ALL THE THINGS but didn't.

So you find that your Alters react this way with others in your life?

I've also realized that the others have friends that Main Me doesn't care for but when co-fronting find myself internally arguing with myself about "why are we even talking to this person"

Responses

1. Yup. It takes cooperation and group conversations to decide ahead of time which relationships to prioritize and how to respond to conflict.

2. Yeah that tracks. Protectors don’t always mean just for yourself. I have a protector who’s far more attached to my friends than even I am and would definitely be willing to throw hands for them lol.

3. I’ve found some of my more protective parts do this, yup. Specifically w/ my boyfriend. One in particular would prob swing at someone on his behalf lol

4. My theory for mine is that because they don’t trust many ppl whatsoever, they value the ones they do trust a lot and are very protective of them as a result.

5. We have a protector who used to be like that. He was very angry and adverse to Us getting trauma therapy specifically. He also held most of the motors and thought it was for Our own good.
We ended up getting separate therapy for him and THEN we went into trauma therapy.
He's doing better now, but he still gets up front when stressful situations arise.
